Sculpture made for the project "Places of Globalization" by the association VICENTINA.
A public sculpture was proposed based on an existing project by the artist: the "árvorezinhas" (little trees), small stone pieces representing various types of trees. This project acquires a new language with the increase of its dimension, passing from a handmade object to a monumental sculpture. The tree chosen as inspiration for this sculpture was the Araucaria, a tree that represents one of the most important geographical landmarks of the village of Monchique. Limestone and local wood were used, in order to acquire natural tones over time and integrate into the surrounding landscape, becoming part of it.
